How Cathedral Donations Are Used
With the major restoration of the Cathedral now complete, our focus turns to the ongoing care and preservation of this sacred and historic place.
The Cathedral is a vital house of worship and a treasured heritage landmark that holds many priceless items of faith, history, and artistry.
Donations to the Cathedral Fund help ensure that the building continues to be preserved for future generations. Contributions will assist with essential maintenance of the Cathedral itself, as well as the conservation, restoration, and proper display of significant heritage items such as vestments, sacred vessels, artworks, books, and other historical objects.
Through the generosity of parishioners, pilgrims, and visitors, we can continue to safeguard the beauty, history, and sacred character of the Cathedral for many years to come. Any support, large or small, makes a meaningful difference in preserving this important part of our shared heritage.
THE GIFT OF GIVING
Giving has always been a characteristic of the Christian community. We give to others because we are brothers and sisters in Christ. We give as a response to Christ’s gift of himself to us. We feel the need to give because we have received so much.
We give because it is good to give. God has created us in such a fashion that we are most fulfilled when we give generously. It is our experience that this generosity comes back to us “one-hundredfold.”
Our financial giving is symbolic of our self-gift to the Lord and to those we love. Giving also symbolises our place in the Church. Through baptism we become part of the Lord’s body and take our place in the Church.
Importantly, our giving helps our parish community to “breathe” so that we can carry out our mission to serve others. Our giving also helps us nurture and develop what past generations have bequeathed to us.
